Full Moon

This has already been a busy year.  I honestly didn’t want to add any more quilts in my bucket.  Especially during Project Quilting.  Well, I needed to make one for a coworkers grandchild and Bea sent me this pattern to test.

When I saw the pattern, I knew the fabric I wanted to use.  I replaced the lights in her pattern with darks, and the darks with lights. Bea Lee’s aka Beaquilter’s pattern is an easy sew.  One that could easily be done, start to finish in one day.  The pattern is accuquilt friendly. Her is a photo of the larger version and a link to her pattern.

The fabric is done I started a project on years ago and red juice was spilled. On.  I loved the fabric and put it away.  It’s a Jain Yenter from 2012.  So 9 years later the entire quilt is done from the old collection.

The only change I made to the pattern was adding 4 inch borders.  This made the stars pop out in the center. I then binded it with the same background fabric to bring it out to the edge.

I actually really love the background fabric. I am glad I could use it for one big piece. I so wish Jadon Yenter would put out another blue tone collection.

This is a really simple sew,  I actually may make another, as I am tempted to keep this one.  Try out some of Beaquilter’s patterns.  If you like accuquilt,  you would love the ease of her patterns!

And on another note.  A smile into my basset eyes! Annie and her brother Cleatus!

Shattered

Last year while at quilt camp, I had some leftover squares and a lot of strings. So in normal Terry fashion, I found something to do with them. I was taking part of a year long scrap quilt along over at Persimmon Dreams.  Well,  I started this under the theme of Stripes,  but then she announced another of improv.... well, this totally matches the improv theme.

I started with a random 3.5 square and sewed up the 2 sides with random drips of random widths and lengths in a half log cabin fashion. All from my scraps and a few that others gave me. Some cut straight and some cut as an angle.

I continued doing this until there was a square bigger then 10.5.  This then made the sides, even if an angle, all straight.

The squares are all sewn together to make a large log cabin looking block. The top was then made up of 12 blocks.  3 across and 4 down.

The backing is a large piece of yardage, I pieced together to make large enough.  I then quilted it with long lines at an angle.  Each line about 1-1.5 inches apart. This allowed all the strings to be secured with an extra stitch.

The binding is a piece of scrap yardage that I cut to finish the quilt off.

The photos were taken when our lake levels were low. Laid on small pieces of driftwood that match the strings that were all sandwiched together.

And here’s the cutest little basset puppy Annie

It's the end of May and it's not all done...

I had high hopes this month to get a lot done.  It's of course the month I go to my yearly retreat and usually finish a bunch of work.

This year I brought a lot of unfinished projects to the retreat. But I only finished 3 old projects and was almost done with 2 new.   But I guess there is always next year to knock a few more off my list.

     I finished Anna's Quilt,

     Cindy's brothers Quilt,

     Aprils Improvisation Challenge Pillow Cases.

     May's Prism Monkey Wrench Challenge

And a Girls John Deere Quilt

Almost done sewing the bottom on my tuffet.

Finished a lot of my projects.  So now to think about June Goals!!

May Goals

I didn't do to well with my April goals. Life and a woman I love stepped in the way.   But this month is different.  I am going to a quilting retreat. So, for 4 days I will have time to do nothing but sew!!!   I have decided that I will finish 4 projects in  those days!!

The first will be a Tuffet!!  My friend Carolyn Harris will be teaching me at the retreat!!! Now it's just to decide on what fabric to use!!

The next one will be Cindy's brothers Quilt.  Over a year overdue, but I am going to finish this crown Royal  Quilt.

The third will be a floral Quilt I started about a year and a half ago.  I altered the pattern and I now pray I can remember how I put the blocks I have together!

The last will be Anna's quilt.  Another Tshirt quilt, but one I am very excited to make!!

I hope to work on a few other quilts while I am gone, but that's my completion goal!!

My other goal for the month is to finish the Project Quilt Challenge!!  Hope you have a wonderful month!
